    Bioeconomy-Based Forestry Conference: Opportunities and Challenges in the Century of Climate Change

    The international conference "Bioeconomy - Based Forestry: Opportunities and Challenges in the Century of Climate Change" was held on 28 September 2016, at H2O 6 Architecture and Media Centre, Durbes iela 4, Riga.

    The 21st century is special for the forest sector not only because of technological developments but also because of global environmental changes that affect forestry. The conference sought to answer questions regarding Latvia’s path of development, as well as analyse the latest forestry experiences in the Nordic countries.

    Experts resperesented opportunities and challenges the forest sector will face in the coming years:

    Henrik Valja (Estonia), Estonian Forest and Wood Industries Association

    Dagnis Dubrovskis (Latvia), Forest Faculty of the Latvian University of Agriculture Latvia

    Jānis Ciems (Latvia), AS “Latvijas finieris”

    Hans Andren (Sweden), City of Växsjö

    Gvido Princis (Latvia), Riga City Architect

    Andrejs Domkins (Latvia), Forest and Wood Products Research and Development Institute

    The conference was organized by "Zaļās mājas association" in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia and Meža attīstības fonds.
